Today's reading: Romans 4:2-8
4:2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about-but not before God.
4:3 What does the Scripture say?“Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
4:4 Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but also an obligation.
4:5 However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.
4:6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
4:7 ”Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven whose sins are covered;
4:8 Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.”
Based on the Bible, Faith and Deeds (works) can be divided into 4 quadrants. The 4 quadrants are:
1. 1st quadrant: Without Faith and Without Deeds
2. 2nd quadrant: Faith without Deeds
3. 3rd quadrant: Deeds without Faith
4. 4th quadrant: Faith with Deeds or Faith that result in Deeds
People in 1st quadrant is the unbeliever or worldly. They don't have faith. They don't do good things either. On the other side, people in the 2nd quadrant are the religious They think and talk about about the word but they don't do it. On the 3rd quadrant is the legalistic. They are within the Jews people who do laws, rules, good deeds but without faith on Christ. They thought by following all laws, rules and do the the right deeds, they will go to heaven. But people who are in the 4th quadrant are the people who have faith in Christ. And because of his faith the outcome of their faith is the good deeds. They are believers or the faithful man.
People in 1st quadrant have to learn Bible in order to have faith in Jesus, and they are going do good work in according to their faith. People in the 2nd quadrant need to train themselves to do the word of God. People in 3rd quadrant have to see through and rethink about their faith in Christ and about the word of God. And the people in 4th quadrant need to maintain their faith, keep faithful and growing day by day.
Next question is, what is faith? according to Romans 10:14-17, faith comes from the hearing of the word of God. Which means that inside the people who have right interpretation and understanding for the word of God will be faith, that will affect principle, point of view, and the deeds of the people.
Now, can somebody be called to have faith without the Bible or the word of God? Off course not, or what is Christianity without Bible? Nothing. What is Christianity without right understanding and interpretation? It is Fake. And what is the Christianity without deeds according to the faith? An Empty Religion.
Word of Prayer:
God thank you for this morning lesson. Give your servant ability to be able to consistently keep my faith , be faithful and keep growing day by day. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
